2015 Eco-luxe trends from Ever After – A Dartmoor Wedding

Article Published: Tuesday 17th February, 2015 - 12:41pm

Tucked away down a meandering lane, in the heart of a hidden valley near Tavistock, lies Ever After, an exclusive wedding venue of understated elegance and style. Nestled in woodland and festooned with ferns and wild flowers, the only sounds are those of the bubbling river and melodic birdsong.

Bordered by Dartmoor National Park, this intimate idyll feels light years away from urban life and founder of Ever After, Nicola Evans, has employed an environmentally conscious philosophy across the creation and the management of the stunning venue.

However, at no point has this ethos compromised the undeniable style or luxuriousness of the experience there, and Nicola tells us more about the eco-luxe trends that are coming through via the requests and personal styling that couples booking this special venue are seeking.

Nicola says: "There are always new and exciting flower trends.  At the moment everyone is talking about continuing the trend for the 'just picked' look so we're talking with brides about using lots of greenery for decoration.  Ivy and jasmine grow plentifully here at Ever After and are perfect as they last well without wilting.  In season and locally grown flowers too are a focus this year, great for the Westcountry where we have so many local growers and great florists.  Also the wild garden look for flowers and more use of herbs and even fruit is really popular and again, this is a perfectly eco-luxe look that we can easily create here in an excitingly sustainable way."

"Decor wise, there's a definite movement towards more of a luxe upgrade to the previous rustic trend, a trend which is also being seen in interiors; the use of metallics to add that luxury feel with gold and silver and the colour for 2015 - copper."

"With stationery, the watercolour look is in, the hand-painted look is becoming extremely popular and is so beautifully personal."

"On table settings, coloured table linen is in and at Ever After we're ahead of this trend as we don't do white table linen.  There's also a trend for sequins on tables so we now have matte sequin table runners and matte sequin table linen."

"Lighting is becoming increasingly important.  Chandeliers in strange places are big this year as are massed candles and fairy light canopies. We've already placed amazing chandeliers in our trees here and with Devon weddings allowable up until midnight under the new regulations, huge sets of candles and gorgeous fairy lights will offset night-time ceremonies absolutely perfectly."
