Wedding Film Cornwall
Love Film
Umming and ahhing over the wedding film issue? Let Wed convince you… On compiling each issue of Wed, I talk to a number of couples still buzzing from their wedding day, and ask them to offer a piece of advice for brides and grooms to be. The overwhelming response? Capture the day on film.
Wedding film CornwallThe appeals of a wedding film might seem obvious: the combination of visuals and sound plunges you back amidst the events and sheer emotion of the day like nothing else. It’s a wonderful record of those seemingly insignificant moments that would otherwise be lost in the mists of time. And, of course, it’s a great excuse for a family moment huddled around the TV when your gin-addled Gran demands a screening on Christmas Day.
But cast aside those visions of the cheesy wedding videos of yesteryear – the results today are something else entirely. The advance of technology has upped the must-have factor of the wedding film, as Mike Dutton from Visions UK testifies: “The cameras today give results as good as broadcast and DVD quality is excellent. We now have High Definition and Blu-ray and editing on the latest computer programmes can produce stunning artistic work.”
Now comes the decision: do you hire a professional or do you risk a touch of the shaky cam courtesy of your well-meaning uncle? “Decide what you want,” advises Mike. “If it’s something very casual that doesn’t necessarily capture everything, then perhaps a friend or relative is the answer. Remember it is difficult to both work at a wedding and be a guest. If you want to guarantee that all the main events are covered then consider employing somebody experienced.” You also need to consider the final product: “A professional will have the editing ability to produce a highly watchable film with high quality sound and visuals – a far cry from a dozen tapes of random footage.”
Once you’ve decided to book a professional, you need to know what to look for. “Ask to see examples of actual weddings,” suggests Mike. “Also, recommendations always inspire confidence. All TV production today is widescreen so a good way to check they have modern equipment is to ensure they film in true widescreen.” Also consider advances in digital technology: “It is worth having your film available in High Definition, even if you don't have the technology to view it yet. You’ll want to watch the record of your wedding in years to come and we’ll all have moved on from standard definition by then.”
A series of trends are emerging in the fast moving world of wedding film, from Big Brother style video booths where guests can leave messages to the revival of cine film. Currently wowing fashion forward couples, dynamic company Reel Sixty produce slickly edited Super 8 cine films with a coolly retro twist.
Consider the vast array of options and look forward to starring in your very own movie masterpiece.
