Rebecca and Daniel found each other through Guardian Soulmates just before Christmas 2008. “By chance, we'd both changed some of our match criteria which meant we got to find each other,” says Rebecca. After chatting intensely online, the pair met up on New Year’s Eve 2008 and, as Rebecca comments, “we have rarely been apart since”.

A trip to New York for Daniel’s 30th birthday turned into a double celebration – on a snowy morning 13 months after their first date, he got down on one knee and popped the question in Central Park.

Their intimate country wedding took place at the couple’s favourite boutique hotel, The Whitehouse. A bouquet of spring flowers with white avalanche roses complemented Rebecca’s gorgeous Mori Lee gown. “My make-up artist Sharryn Hinchliffe was amazing,” says Rebecca. “She also did my hair and helped me into my dress.”

After the ceremony, champagne and canapés were served, followed by the sumptuous wedding breakfast. Guests tucked into stir-fried warm salad of prawns followed by rack of lamb and classic lemon tart with lemon mascarpone.

Singer songwriter Daniel had a tear-jerking surprise in store for Rebecca when he performed a song he'd written for her called ‘Grow Old With Me’. “It made everyone in the room cry and was a moment I'll never forget!” she recalls.

The couple headed to the beach with their photographer, Sarah Lauren, for some atmospheric shots, which, as Rebecca comments, “meant Daniel and I had some moments alone to take it all in.”

They had carefully compiled a play list of their favourite songs to entertain their guests – and the song choices filled the floor: “The party after was so much fun as everyone let their hair down, danced to our play list and had a great time.”

Rebecca describes one of the highlights of her “absolutely perfect” day as “walking hand in hand with my Dad into the room where our ceremony was being held with all our close friends and family and seeing Daniel's face.” They shortly jetted off for their honeymoon on Cocoa Island in the Maldives.

As for words of wisdom, Rebecca says, “It's so easy to get so very nervous, but it really is one of the most amazing days of your life so do your best to relax before the ceremony and enjoy it! Our aim was to keep it real and not get caught up with the little details – remember what it's all about and you'll enjoy it more.”
