Peter planned to propose to Sharon on the stunning sands of Mawgan Porth. On the evening in question, however, there was a high tide and Sharon couldn’t understand his persistence in attempting to walk across the beach with the tide pushing them into the sand dunes – until he produced a box with a princess cut diamond ring inside. “The ring had come from California and Pete had a lot of trouble receiving it without me knowing. It was a wonderful surprise,” remembers Sharon.
The couple took a DIY approach to their wedding. “Everything was either handmade or homemade by myself, my sister and mum. The invitations, order of service, table plan, bar menu, table numbers, name places, favours, wedding cake – we even made the parking signs and dressed the marquee with bunting,” says Sharon.

With a theme of pink, diamonds and sparkle, every detail carried a gorgeous glittery feel, from Sharon’s exquisite diamond necklace and bracelet to the sparkly ball candleholders decorating the tables. The bridesmaids donned a vibrant shade of pink that matched Sharon’s pretty bouquet.

After a ceremony at St Mawgan Church, guests made their way to the marquee reception at Trebelsue Farm with its mesmerising views across Watergate Bay.

Catering company About Taste served a sumptuous wedding breakfast, commencing the feast with a series of delectable canapés followed by Cornish roast beef with all the trimmings and lemon meringue roulade with summer berry garnish. Evening guests tucked into a hog roast in addition to Sharon’s homemade scones, jams and cupcakes while grooving away to the evening disco.

The newly-weds began their honeymoon by spending two nights amidst the wild beauty of Dartmoor before jetting off for a week’s cruise in the Mediterranean.

Sharon shares her highlights of the day: “My favourite moment was our time together in the Beauford car playing 1930s’ music and having our pictures taken with the car by the river in St Mawgan. The driver of the car was a fantastic host, serving champagne and helping with my dress.”
Her advice to other couples is simple: “Make sure you take it all in because the day goes so quickly. And have fun of course!”
