Caitlin and Will’s romance started in a London nightclub. “I had just moved to London from California to study abroad for the year and walked into the club where I saw Will on the dance floor. I grabbed a friend and danced right next to him so he noticed me – and it worked,” says Caitlin.
After finishing her degree in the US, Caitlin moved to London to be with Will and, after six years in the city and Will’s surprise proposal in her father’s vineyard in California, the couple decamped to Cornwall to realise Will’s dream of opening a restaurant. “We spent this spring moving to Cornwall, opening The Watch House in St Mawes and planning a wedding!” says Caitlin.

A rich shade of blue carried through the details of their chic coastal wedding. “I tried to make it feel like a vintage garden party by the sea. There was a lot of lace, fresh wild flowers and antique details,” says Caitlin. Blue vases and jars filled with elegant white flowers with accents of blue, pink and yellow adorned the tables. Caitlin teamed her Pronovias dress with an elegant posy of white and cream roses, veronica and lisianthus decorated with lace ribbon.

After the ceremony in St Just in Roseland Church, the newly-weds enjoyed a ride in a vintage Morgan to the marquee reception. Guests tucked into canapés and drinks before the stunning sea views, played croquet on the lawn and lapped up the sunshine on sun loungers.

About Taste provided a mouth-watering menu full of local produce: potted local Cornish crab followed by roast sirloin of Cornish beef and a dessert buffet. A friend provided the party soundtrack, which saw revellers grooving into the night. Guests had fun using an old frame as a prop for some Polaroid photos, which they placed in a photo book with messages for the couple.

Caitlin reflects on her highlights: “Will and I drove down to The Watch House to take some photos and ate ice cream on the beach in the sunshine. It was nice to have some time away from everyone to reflect on the fact that we had just got married and how happy we were.”

“The day is all about you,” affirms Caitlin. “People always try to make sure that all the guests are having a great time, but it’s really important that you take some time out to be alone just the two of you to let it all soak in and ensure you really enjoy the moment.”
