Emma and Jason first met while camping in St Ives and, after several failed attempts at popping the question – one involving a dolphin watching trip in Oman when Emma split her head open on the boat’s roof – Jason finally got down on bended knee following a romantic meal at a hotel in Dubai.
The couple decided on a ceremony at St Gennys Church, near Emma’s family home in Crackington Haven, followed by a reception at Fifteen Cornwall overlooking the stunning vistas of Watergate Bay.
With no strict theme as such, Emma explains the influences behind the look of the day: “We stole colours from the Cornish hedgerows and items that we found along the way – the colours and a bird theme evolved from our interest in our local environment and things that we enjoy.”
After trying on countless dresses, Emma fell for an exquisite Pronovias gown. She complemented her dress with a floral hairpiece customised with guinea feathers, while the floral arrangements comprised a pretty mix of hydrangeas and peonies personalised with a selection of ostrich and guinea fowl feathers, tiny Tibetan bird charms and lace.

A group of children from schoolteacher Emma’s school greeted the bride both on her arrival at the church and her exit with her new husband on her arm. The couple relished some time out with a walk to the headland above Crackington Haven before hopping on board a VW campervan bound for Watergate Bay.

Guests enjoyed the culinary delights of Fifteen through a lavish five-course tasting menu. The dishes included seared Cornish hand-dived scallop, insalata of Cape Cornwall lobster, Carnaroli risotto primavera, roast Angus beef fillet and Fifteen’s “amazing” raspberry tasting plate.

DJs Raze The Roof spun the records that kept the party vibe going all evening. “They were amazing and helped us mix together two songs for our first dance. We have been doing ballroom dancing lessons for a couple of years and wanted to do a foxtrot leading into a cha-cha for an unexpected first dance!” says Emma.
Emma unveils one of her best moments: “The sunset! Some things can be thought about and planned – others can't, and this was one of them. Some spine-tingling Ibiza/Balearic chill out tunes accompanied what was a truly amazing sunset marking the end of our fabulous day.”
Her advice to other couples concerns individualising your wedding: “Don't be pressurised into getting married in a certain way. Think outside the box about venues, design and the feel of the day.” She adds, “Choose to do things that you want to do – it can and should be unique.”
