Let your personality shine through those all-important finishing touches. Sarah Christopher of wedding blog Juno & Joy gives the lowdown on lust-worthy and so-you accessories...
Our ethos at Juno & Joy is that a couple should take ownership of their day - that a little of their personality should be in every element. It might be a reading from a book that holds great significance to you both, a scheme that reflects a kooky aspect of your relationship or something as simple as choosing to wear outfits befitting your day-to-day style and the tone of your wedding celebration.McKinley Rodgers
For a bride, it's important to channel a look that's, well, you. It's no good turning up on the day and not being recognised by your groom because your hair looks so utterly different from how you normally wear it or the fresh-faced beauty he's fallen for is caked in heavy make-up. Be the best possible version of yourself. Be your own icon.Natalie J Watts
A lot of this may come down to the gown you choose: its style, cut and how it makes you feel. But you can go so much further by choosing the right accessories; these can be used to complement your dress and add statement style. The extra snippet of you that sets the whole ensemble apart from anyone else...

And the bride wore...flowersIn recent years, brides have been bolder in their choices (hurrah!) and have turned towards alternative ideas for bringing colour and interest to their wedding ensemble. Fresh flowers are a great way of doing this, particularly if you're on a budget as a few seasonal blooms can make serious impact. A lot of brides now opt for a floral crown or some loose blooms woven into their hair. We are also seeing an emerging trend of floral wrist corsages being worn by brides, and have even noticed images of bohemian brides wearing ankle corsages at beach wedding celebrations.

Behind the veilMost brides can't help but add an element of nostalgia to their day - it's an emotional celebration after all and it's lovely to create your wedding in a way that won't date in photographs or on film. Accessories comprise a great way of including a family heirloom and veils are by far the most popular way of doing this. Did your grandma wear a lace cathedral length veil you can borrow? Or did your mum don a '60s frou frou? If not, then there's an abundance of vintage inspired and contemporary veils out there offering serious statement style. Think Duchess of Cambridge or Grace Kelly - iconic bridal romance.

Keep it clippedWe're not just talking hair clips here - though bejewelled and twinkly designs are very worthy of a mention - but brooches and pins also. These can be ingeniously worked into a wedding scheme, whether it's a piece of treasured jewellery used on your husband-to-be's buttonhole or a number of sparkly beauties clustered together to make an heirloom bouquet - and if your outfit offers a peek of your shoes then shoe clips are a wonderful way to add interest to a pair of plain Mary Janes.

Crowning gloryFor a luxe, art deco look, opt for Great Gatsby-esque hair adornments, which are currently so en vogue. A rhinestone cap is not for the fainthearted - it screams statement style and, worn with an Oscar's-worthy dress, would probably go down in wedding history amongst your guests. If you're not quite willing to brave such dizzy fashion heights on your big day, go for a delicate forehead band or circlet and attach a large feather to the back ahead of your evening celebrations for an authentic flapper girl look. In contrast, boho beauties planning a festival themed do could look to Coachella and Glastonbury for their inspiration - native Indian style headdresses are being worn by free-spirited brides as well as ornate rustic crowns made of twigs, pinecones and even shells.

Cover upGone are the days when it was only acceptable for a bride to wear a white bolero over her wedding gown without drawing a gasp from the traditionalists. Things have moved on and, while classic bridal cover-ups still endure and have their place, if they're simply not 'you' there's no need to wear one. Feathered capes and animal print cropped jackets are popular winter wedding cover-ups, while embellished capelets and denim jackets have been spotted on brides from across-the-pond, so we're waiting with bated breath to see if the trend catches on over here!
