Debbie and Matt's rural tipi extravaganza

"Matt and I met six years ago through our love of outdoor pursuits with our dogs," says Debbie. "We got engaged on my birthday in February 2015. It wasn't a very romantic proposal - typical farmer," she laughs. However, the engagement was soon sealed with a day of ring shopping in Exeter followed by a celebratory lunch. "We both agreed on a ring from Michael Spiers: it was a very special day," says Debbie.

Debbie relished the process of planning their elegant country wedding: "In the early days, I enjoyed surfing the web every night to find our suppliers and we were so pleased with our choices - it was all very exciting!"

On the wedding day itself, Debbie looked beautiful in a blush Augusta Jones dress with pretty lace cap sleeves, while her bridesmaids stood out in soft shades of violet and abundant bouquets bursting with roses to match their dresses and bundles of gypsophila.

The bridal party arrived in a collection of stylish vintage cars for the rustic-style outdoor ceremony at the couple's home in Ottery St Mary, where they are lucky enough to be afforded views that stretch for miles across open fields. Led by Grace the Day celebrant, guests sat at benches cloaked in cosy furs while the couple took their self-penned vows before a stunning floral arch.

Guests settled in a tipi beautifully decorated with a creative combination of twinkling lights, candles and fabulous floral arrangements for the wedding feast. The Keepers Cottage Inn provided the delicious food, starting with a selection of fish and chips and sausage canapes, followed by crabmeat wrapped in salmon, and a carvery of turkey, beef, ham, Yorkshire puddings and vegetables. "Desserts were sticky toffee pudding or cheesecake, plus cheese and biscuits," remembers Debbie.

After the speeches and toasts, magician Dan Brazier entertained the guests before a show-stopping fireworks display. "Wow, what a show - it was certainly the best I have ever seen! We will never forget it," remembers Debbie, who cites her favourite moments as "arriving to see everyone turning to look at us getting out of the cars" and "our beautiful ceremony with the words we chose ourselves."
