Louise and Jason met as teenagers through mutual friends. They stayed together throughout Jason’s four years at university and, on his graduation, the couple moved to Basingstoke. However, the arrival of their son, Joshua, prompted a move back to Devon three years later to be closer to their family and friends.
Their sun-drenched June wedding was a wonderful family event. “It was lovely to have our two children, five-year-old Josh and three-year-old Ruby, as our page boy and bridesmaid,” says Louise. A team of family and friends rallied around to help decorate the two function rooms at The Knowle. As Louise comments, “We could not have done it without them!”
A burgundy and ivory colour scheme extended from the bouquets – a mixture of calla lilies and roses – to the grooms wear. Louise rolled up to Broadclyst Church in an Austin Ascot and, after the marriage ceremony, the couple enjoyed a ride through Sidmouth in the classic car, which caused quite a stir. “The driver was tooting his horn as we travelled through the town centre and we waved at all the people who had stopped to see what was going on!”

The sunny weather meant the celebrations could spill out into the picturesque gardens and everyone tucked into canapés and Pimm’s on the lawn. A sit-down dinner followed: a hog roast came with all the trimmings, salads, couscous, new potatoes and vegetables, while the dessert was an indulgent selection of profiteroles, tiramisu and Eton mess.

Flash Mobile Discos revved up the party atmosphere with a playlist of dance floor classics, while a buffet and chocolate fountain ensured a deliciously indulgent evening was had by all.

“We were so lucky to have such amazing weather,” says Louise. “The day before and the day after were both horrible!” The couple left rainy Britain for the sun-kissed shores of Cuba for an all-inclusive holiday and thoroughly enjoyed the blissful beaches, hot weather and tasty cuisine.

“If you have the time there are lots of things you can do yourself,” Louise advises brides and grooms-to-be. “We made our own invitations, the table plan, wedding favours and the floral arrangements for the pews and tables.” And, most importantly, “Enjoy the day as it goes so fast.”
