Real Wedding at Ugborough Church

The Country Celebration

The exotic climes of the Bahamas was the backdrop for a fortuitous meeting between pilot Andy and Jodie, who works for the same airline as a member of the cabin crew.

Settling on a country style wedding theme, the couple settled on the elegant venue of Langdon Court and set the tone with a gorgeous selection of contemporary country flowers with hanging orchids.

The Bucks Fizz was flowing as Jodie spent the morning of the wedding with her family getting ready. Despite planning to use Andy’s dad’s Jaguar as the wedding car, there was a hitch when their driver accidentally locked the keys in the boot and there were no spares! “I arrived at the church in an estate taxi,” says Jodie, “but I didn’t care as all I wanted was to get to the church and everyone had a good laugh about it. Luckily, after the service, as Andy and I were waiting on the church steps, the Jaguar appeared around the corner and we left the church in style with a bottle of champagne.”

The party made their way to Langdon Court where they tucked into canapés and mini Devon cream teas with Kir Royale in the gardens. The wedding breakfast was a sumptuous selection of mozzarella and tomato with basil and a pesto dressing, roast chicken with game chips, vegetables and bread sauce, followed by a choice of lemon tart and chocolate kahlua tart with clotted cream. After many tears flowed during the speeches, a gorgeous and emotional day gave way to a relaxed evening of chatting and dancing, “it really was just perfect,” says Jodie.

The perfect day was the prelude to a heavenly honeymoon, comprising 12 nights in the Seychelles: six nights on Denis Island and six nights on Praslin.

Jodie advises a calm approach, “Try not to get too stressed out; things will happen on the day which were not planned but it all works out.” She adds, “On the day, try and take ten minutes to the two of you, take a step back and watch everyone enjoying themselves and absorb the atmosphere. Enjoy every minute as it is the most amazing day.”
