Love flourished for Vicky and Casey after a chance meeting through a mutual friend at a London bar, which culminated in a dazzling Cornish beachside wedding.
The ceremony at Talland Church saw Vicky wow the congregation in a Justin Alexander gown that was personalised with a corsage on the hip. The men scrubbed up well too. “I'm from Aberdeen so the men from my family were wearing kilts, as was our 18-month-old son Finley and his cousin Jamie. They looked adorable,” comments Vicky.

In homage to Casey’s Australian proposal, the church was scented with eucalyptus, which, together with a mass of roses, peonies, gerberas and gypsophila, complemented the green and white colour scheme.

The reception took place at Casey’s parents’ house on the beautiful beach of Plaidy, near Looe. The 200 guests were treated to a performance by a quartet from Classical Strings and champagne and canapés, which included local seafood and mini scones.

Due to the rain, the speeches had to be delivered inside the house, but luckily the function room in the basement had been decorated ‘just in case’, allowing proceedings to flow freely.

The cutting of the cake was followed by a hog roast buffet, including crackling with apple sauce, ciabatta rolls and a variety of salads and coleslaws. Pasties were served later for peckish partygoers.

Indie rock band Supersaurus were unable to play the couple’s intended first dance, as the stand-in bass player didn’t know the song. However, an impromptu decision to opt for Kings of Leon’s ‘Sex on Fire’ proved a hit. “It turned out to be better anyway,” Vicky comments. “It was a fantastic opener to the evening and Casey and I just rocked out!”

Chinese lanterns were released on the beach after sunset, rounding off the day’s events in magical style.

The whole wedding was very much a collaborative and self-organised affair. With help from loved ones, however, the couple pulled off the entire event successfully: “Organising it was a mammoth task as it was at my in-laws' house and we live 200 miles away in Surrey. We had to source suppliers for the catering and the marquees right through to the hay bales and portaloos! Decorating was also a big job – we opted for balloons, bunting and fairy lights. Luckily we had lots of family and friends around in the run-up to the wedding to help.”
