After the all-important question had been popped, Simone and Mark – who met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend – looked into the option of marrying abroad. It was important, however, that their beloved dog, Bug, was part of their day and when Simone suggested Cornwall, it seemed the perfect solution. As regular visitors to the county, a backdrop of stunning scenery and beaches appealed to the couple – and, as it turned out, the glorious weather on the wedding day meant their guests saw Cornwall at its best.
Simone enjoyed a drive across the sun-kissed coast in a VW camper van to the ceremony at the Glendorgal Hotel. Vows were exchanged before ocean views and Bug, who was the ring bearer, barked his approval at the very moment the registrar pronounced Mark and Simone man and wife!
The newly weds headed out into the sunshine at Porth Beach to capture some beautiful photographs as well as some rays, while the party headed to Lusty Glaze Beach to await their grand entrance. After a series of safety checks and more snaps, the couple zip wired down to the sands amidst huge cheers.

As the adrenaline subsided, the barbecue was fired up and the mellow beach vibe took over. The party tucked into a three-course meal before sublime views across the coast, which included rump steak kebabs, chicken marinated in garlic and oregano, classic seafood paella and local Pollack steaks steamed on the barbecue.

As the sun slipped beneath the horizon, guests had great fun on the shoreline, running into the sea and getting bowled over by the surf – watching the antics proved a stand-out memory for the couple.

After their sun-drenched wedding, Simone and Mark departed for an exotic trip to Kenya where a five-day safari followed by a six-day beach holiday made for an adventurous and relaxing honeymoon.

“The weather was fantastic and it made for a crazy day,” the pair reflects. They advise others, “This is your day and if someone can't provide what you want at a price you can afford, go somewhere else. As we found, there are always other options – some of them not what you had in mind at all – so keep an open mind.”
