One of Rosie’s work pals set her up with Jay and a mutual attraction translated into a series of dates. Several months later, he proposed at twilight on the tropical sands of Koh Samui, Thailand. When Rosie discovered that she was pregnant six months prior to their November wedding, the happy news prompted a dress dilemma. Her Jenny Packham dress didn’t allow room for her growing bump and, after much deliberation, she bought a second Jenny Packham dress, which proved a flattering cut for her shape.
The wedding styling was classic and simple; the bridesmaid dresses, cravats and stationery were turquoise (Rosie’s favourite colour), which coordinated perfectly with the décor at St Michaels Hotel. The flowers had a classic theme with a vintage twist, combining white roses, Mexican daisies and ivy.

Rosie shimmied down the aisle of Kea Church to ‘Pachelbel’s Canon’ on the acoustic guitar. “As I walked down the aisle, I felt a bit worried as Jay didn’t turn around,” she reflects. “When I got there, even his eyes were smiling and he told me I looked the most beautiful he'd ever seen me. I later found out that it's supposed to be bad luck to look down the aisle at your future bride.”
Dire Straits’ ‘Romeo and Juliet’ played while the newly weds departed to the peal of church bells. “To be honest, I don't even remember hearing them as I was so busy being Mrs Durber!” comments Rosie.

King Harry Coaches whisked guests to the waterside reception, while Rosie and Jay enjoyed a ride in an Austin Sheer Line Convertible. Mulled wine, cream and jam scones and warmed fish cakes made for a lip-smacking arrival, while the hearty sit-down dinner included warm asparagus salad followed by roasted lamb shank and warm sticky toffee pudding. DJ Kris Cool revved up the party atmosphere, with a play list that saw everyone dancing into the night.

Due to their imminent arrival, the couple honeymooned two months prior to the wedding in the Maldives. Now proud parents to baby Poppie, they have fond memories of their day. “It took us a year and a half to plan the wedding, which was a perfect amount of time – we didn't have to rush and explored lots of options from the invitations to the venue.” Rosie adds, “However, we always had in mind that as long as we were both there to say 'I do', what else did we need?”
