Katie and Liam met while studying at Oxford Brookes University. Seven years of co-habiting, a dog and two cats later, Liam popped the question in inspired style: after paragliding off a mountain during a skiing holiday in France.
A fusion of seaside elements and spring colours set the tone for their May wedding. Katie made the centrepieces with shells, sand and flowers and hand engraved the guests’ names onto pebbles for a personal touch. The floral arrangements were visions of seasonal flowers, including white avalanche roses, lilac and lily of the valley.
The wedding took place in the stunning setting of Feock, the local church making for a beautiful backdrop to the ceremony. “Canon Peter Walker and the choir made the service extra special,” reflects Katie. “And walking out of the church to the bells ringing was wonderful.”

With the bride looking resplendent in a pair of white wellies, the newlyweds crossed the creek by boat and arrived at the marquee reception to the cheers of their guests. Despite the many challenges of the historic quayside location, the team from Absolute Canvas ensured the marquee was an absolute stunner with views out to sea.

The Round Kitchen served a delicious feast. The canapés of sweet and savoury scones proved a particular crowd pleaser. For the starter, a tiger prawn and Cornish crab salad tickled taste buds followed by a steak and Skinners Cornish ale puff pastry parcel served with vegetables and a rich red wine sauce. Individual lemon and white chocolate cheesecakes made for mouthwatering desserts.

Entertainment was a priority for the couple. They created a series of CDs to play during the drinks reception and meal, while Luke Warm Caricatures amused guests with his artwork. Spectrum Party Band, a six-piece from Bristol, revved up the party atmosphere with their programme of old and new hits, while Liam surprised guests with a special line-dancing performance, which the girls had learnt on the hen party. “We had the most wonderful party with all the guests dancing, singing and having a truly brilliant time. We really didn’t want it to end.”
Despite the threat of volcanic ash and cabin crew strikes, the loved up pair jetted off to Thailand for their honeymoon.

“Relax. Take each task as it comes and make the decisions that you want.” Katie advises other brides. “I lost so much weight the week before the wedding my dress didn’t fit on the day! Make sure you try it on at least the day before.”
