Adding to its ever growing list of accolades, wedding venue Polhawn Fort has recently scooped bronze in the Venue and Business Tourism category at this year's Cornwall Tourism Awards.

Recently named the 2015 winner of Mills and Boon Romance Awards - 'Most Romantic Wedding Venue' category, Polhawn Fort is situated above the secluded beach of Polhawn Cove near Torpoint. An authentic Napoleonic fort, it has panoramic sea views, eight bedrooms, a choice of function rooms and comes complete with drawbridge, cannon and walls that are eight feet thick.

John Wicksteed and his wife Teresa bought the property in 1988 and such as has been their success that Polhawn Fort currently hosts an average 120 weddings each year and around 300 wedding guests per week.

"We're absolutely delighted with this latest award and know how lucky we are to enjoy such a spectacular coastal setting," said Mr Wicksteed. "Our team work hard to ensure every wedding is a huge success and that ethos - combined with our beautiful location and unique sense of history - helps to attract couples from all over the UK and beyond. Cornwall's increasing popularity as a holiday destination, is undoubtedly a big advantage too."

Every business entered for the Cornwall Tourism Awards is independently judged and finalists are all mystery shopped.

Following its success in Cornwall, Polhawn Fort will now go through to the South West Tourism Excellence Awards.
