Wedding at Mount Haven

A Coastal Celebration

Although John and Maureen live in London, they share a deep attachment to South West Cornwall. John grew up in the area and Maureen enjoyed many idyllic summers there; hence, it seemed an appropriate setting for their marriage, despite the challenge of organising the celebration from a distance.

The iconic image of St Michael's Mount became something of a theme for the wedding; John designed the stationery, which included his logo of their dramatic wedding backdrop.

The ceremony took place at St Levan Church, near Porthcurno. The church was decorated with an array of spring flowers, including daffodils, narcissi, freesia and blue thistles - a reference to Maureen's Scottish birthplace. After the ceremony, a vintage Rolls Royce whisked the newly weds off to Marazion, pausing en route for photographs at The Minack Theatre.

A champagne reception and meal followed at The Mount Haven Hotel. The mouth-watering food was locally sourced wherever possible, and included a sumptuous choice of dishes including Cornish beef and locally caught fish.

The lip-smacking delights continued in the evening with delicious organic food provided by Archie Browns and Vivian Olds. A performance by the Great Western Jazz Company raised the tempo for the evening party, culminating in a spectacular firework display by Celebration Pyrotechnics against the atmospheric backdrop of a floodlit St Michael's Mount.

Although the planning demanded a lot of hard work, Maureen insists it was well worth it. She enthuses, "we both had a wonderful and truly special day."
