Although they both attended Truro College, Lee May and Mark didn’t cross paths until a friend’s 18th birthday party. “We started going out not long after that, and nearly 12 years later we finally got around to getting married!” explains Lee May.
The beautiful backdrop of Rosteague was the setting for their ceremony. The couple decided on a relaxed outdoorsy event blending shades of green and pink with little birds as a motif to compliment the country feel. Lee May donned a gorgeous Jenny Packham gown and individualised her look with a feather boa and bright red shoes.

The couple wanted their wedding to have a personal touch: “Lots of the details were handmade by myself and our family and friends. It was really nice to involve people and their talents in the preparation for the big day.”

A medley of little peach and pink roses, sweet William, dill, baby's breath, hydrangea and pretty green foliage were arranged in raffia tied jam jars and made perfect table centrepieces for the relaxed country mood.

The weather was customarily unpredictable and, after ushering the guests in and out on a number of occasions, it was decided to risk an al fresco ceremony in the summer house at Rosteague. Luckily, the weather held long enough for the couple to be wed under the beautiful thatched canopy prior to the later deluge of rain.

The reception, which took place in a marquee at Lee May’s parent's house, kicked off with canapés and champagne followed by the speeches and wedding breakfast.

With a starter of crab or Tricolor salad followed by a buffet of lamb, continental vegetables or seafood risotto, guests happily munched their way through the menu, finishing with strawberries and profiteroles. Later in the evening, pasties and cakes did the rounds while a sweet table stocked with Sherbet Lemons, Haribo, Mint Humbugs and Chupa Chups satisfied those with a sweet tooth.

The couple compiled a play list that had revellers on the dance floor until the early hours. Following on from the day, the newlyweds enjoyed two nights at the Driftwood Hotel before heading off to Kefalonia for their honeymoon.

Lee May advises other couples to “try to keep things simple and don't try to over organise things or fret about tiny details. Everyone is there to celebrate your marriage and if some things don't work out as expected (like the weather didn't for us!) it doesn't really matter – just enjoy the magic of the day and the fun celebrations and being married to the person you love the most.”
