A shared passion for scuba diving first brought Lucy and Adam together at their scuba diving club in Weymouth, Dorset. Rather appropriately, they chose to marry in the coastal setting of Talland Church, “I was confirmed there and used to sing in the church choir,” explains Lucy. Coincidentally, Adam had completed his diving instructor qualifications in Talland Bay before the couple met.
They opted for a small, personal wedding with only 45 guests. “It was a more intimate wedding than others we had attended before,” says Lucy. “This allowed us plenty of time to speak to all of our guests.”

The weekend of celebrations took place in the spectacular setting of Pentillie Castle, which meant both families made their preparations for the ceremony together. The bridesmaids wore floor-sweeping teal gowns, which made for an elegant pairing with the ivory flowers. Cymbidium orchids added a flourish of pink against the ivory roses and hydrangeas in Lucy’s bouquet.

After the church ceremony and photographs overlooking the bay, the party returned to Pentillie Castle for afternoon tea on the terrace where guests enjoyed miniature scones and sandwiches with views across the Tamar. “This allowed plenty of time to mingle and chat,” says Lucy.

Scallops with pancetta and pea purée and a main course of pork belly and wild Lizard salad were amongst the highlights of the wedding breakfast. For dessert, guests eagerly tucked into the individual chocolate wedding cakes served with cream. After the speeches, live band ‘The Grace Notes’ kicked off the evening party with Lucy and Adam’s first dance to 'Let's Stay Together'.

The fabulous weekend wedding was rounded off with a romantic honeymoon in Italy. “We spent five days in Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast followed by five hectic days sightseeing and dining out in Rome.”

“It’s your day so have it your way, even if it does not conform to the classic wedding schedule,” Lucy advises other budding brides and grooms. “The guests at your wedding will remember it more if it is unique.”
