Marquee Wedding Cornwall

Classic Chic By The Beach

Sarah and Llyr met 19 years ago at Polzeath Surf Lifesaving Club. Romance blossomed when their paths crossed again eight years ago. The question was popped and the wedding plans began in earnest.

The couple opted for a September wedding against the dramatic backdrop of the North Cornwall coast. They decided against a rigid colour scheme, instead opting for different shades of pale pink for the flowers and mismatched bridesmaid dresses and blue and turquoise tones for the shirts, ties, the marquee décor and table decorations.

Sarah designed the bridesmaid dresses, which were handmade by Truro-based Annie Ward. A medley of pink, cream and violet peonies and garden roses complemented Sarah’s dreamy Pronovias gown: a floaty style embellished with dainty beads.

Photographs on the beach followed the church service at St. Michael’s Church in Porthilly, where a very special guest made an appearance: “Our collie Sky joined us after the church for the rest of the day’s celebrations!” says Sarah. Steel band ‘Hammered Steel’ kick-started an atmosphere of merriment as the party arrived for the marquee reception at Porthilly Farm and enjoyed champagne cocktails and canapés.

The Good Food Company served up a hot buffet style menu, including dishes such as chicken and chorizo paella, griddled fish salad, Morroccan vegetable tagine and a choice of salads, potatoes and fresh bread. Sarah adds, “Pudding was a choice of treacle tart or 'Sarah's dessert' – a favourite of mine which is a mix of pineapple, blueberries, coconut yoghurt and white chocolate shavings!”

Sarah and Llyr had a surprise up their sleeves for their guests, “We had secretly been practicing a dance routine to Paolo Nutini for our first dance, which our friend Liz Puffer had choreographed for us to Paolo Nutini.”  Live combo ‘The Johnny Fuller Band’ played an eclectic mix of uplifting tunes into the night, the high jinks on the dance floor proving a fun and fabulous way to end their day.
