Wedding at Hotel Endsleigh

Shades of Autumn

Hotel Endsleigh was a magical setting for Sarah Jane and Ian’s autumn wedding. The burnished reds and rusts of the leaves painted a glorious backdrop for the nuptials of the couple who met in Blackfriars, London back in 2003.

Opting for a fresh palette of white and green as a colour scheme, the pretty floral arrangements by Amanda Randell brought a fresh and natural aesthetic to the proceedings, perfectly complementing Sarah Jane’s chic Sassi Holford gown.

On the morning of the wedding, Sarah Jane woke early and played with the couple’s 16-month-old daughter before taking a walk in the gardens and tucking into a hearty breakfast. The beauty preparations proved very much a social occasion as various girlfriends popped in and out to chat.

She arrived 20 minutes late to the service at Milton Abbot Church: “I forgot how many buttons needed to be done up on my dress!” she reflects. “The ceremony was beautiful – very spiritual and intimate.”

A champagne reception took place back at Hotel Endsleigh, followed by an exquisite wedding breakfast. The starter was terrine of Loch Dart salmon, smoked salmon and spinach with broad bean, caper and shallot dressing. Then came a fillet of South Devon beef wellington, goose fat roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, French beans, roast parsnips, port wine jus and chocolate fondant, clotted cream ice cream and tuile biscuit for dessert. The speeches involved “lots of heckling and interaction throughout”, while Nice and Easy Discos provided the soundtrack for the evening party.

The couple shortly jetted off for their honeymoon in Australia. Reflecting on their day, Sarah Jane enthuses, “Endsleigh was magical, the views and food were simply outstanding.”

“Make sure you have the wedding you really want, not the wedding that others expect you to have,” she advises. “We wanted a relaxed, fun and informal wedding without sacrificing on quality or detail.”
