Ten years after meeting on their first day at Swansea University, Kelly and Daniel tied the knot on a crisp day in January. After a week of heavy snow, their white winter wonderland theme seemed entirely appropriate; masses of baby’s breath blooms were reminiscent of snowflakes, while hanging crystals and crystal candlesticks nestled amongst the flowers to catch the light. Rather than a bouquet, Kelly carried a ‘winter hand muff’ of baby’s breath with her Nan’s engagement ring attached to a crystal brooch on the front.
For Dan, the day started with a few pints of Dutch courage at a nearby pub while Kelly made her preparations at Fowey Hall. She walked down the aisle to Eva Cassidy’s ‘Songbird’ with a lucky sixpence, which her dad gave her prior to the ceremony, in her sparkly Louboutin platforms. A rendition of ‘Over the Rainbow’ by friend Abbie lent a stirring ambience while the couple signed the register, followed by a procession up the aisle to Lynden David Hall’s version of ‘All You Need is Love’, inspired by the film ‘Love Actually’.
Supping on winter Pimms and nibbling on canapés, guests mingled while perusing the wedding photos of Kelly and Dan’s parents and grandparents, and sampling the treats of the sweet table and Cuban cigar table, which was topped with cigars and personalised matchboxes.

The wedding breakfast was sumptuous: salted beef and potato terrine with horseradish cream and merlot reduction followed by traditional fish and chips with mushy peas served in personalised newspaper using the engagement photos and an article written by Dan. Dessert was an assiette of mini desserts including lemon tart, vanilla crème brûlée and mixed berry cheesecake.

After letting off sky lanterns, a waltz to Norah Jones’ ‘Come Away With Me’ and a surprise firework display marked the commencement of the evening celebrations. Their friend Mackie performed a warm-up repertoire of swing music followed by cheesy tunes and, impressively, the bride and groom were the last to bed at 3.30am. The next day, guests were invited to experience the outdoor hot tub overlooking the sea – while it was snowing!

The couple headed to Edinburgh for a mini-moon the following weekend, followed by a long-haul trip to New Zealand and Fiji in March. Reflecting on their big day, Kelly and Dan impress on other couples to, “Enjoy every minute as the day goes so fast, and take a bit of time out so just the two of you can spend a bit of time together.”
