Love blossomed at work for Nick and Sarah and, after getting engaged last year, they opted for a spring bash filled with diverse entertainment.

The sun shone from the crack of dawn and Sarah got ready with her mum and four bridesmaids at her childhood home in Newton Abbot. Dressed in a shade of cornflower blue, the bridesmaids carried pompoms of white carnations while the bride held a romantic bouquet of white roses. An abundance of white roses, lilies and freesias lent a flourish of elegance in the church and candles in glass hurricane lanterns with trailing ivy were placed in the windows.

A peal of church bells signalled the beginning and end of the service at St Mary the Virgin Church in Wolborough with the Stoke Gabriel church choir leading the singing and Sarah’s sister Julia performing ‘Annie’s Song’ during the signing of the register.

Sarah and Nick travelled to Canonteign House in a vintage Rolls Royce, while the guests had a hoot packed into several retro Routemaster buses.

After a Pimm’s and champagne reception, guests took their places at tables named after the couple’s favourite beaches in the UK. Antonia’s Kitchen created an exquisite spring-inspired menu, which included smoked duck breast on a bed of rocket with mango salsa followed by lemon meringue ice cream torte with raspberry sauce and a glass of dessert wine.

The entertainment began from the word go. Mr Marvel the magician, of Sounds Amazing Entertainment, circulated around the tables, the Four Seasons String Quartet provided the music during the drinks reception and a disco and live singer stoked up the party atmosphere in the evening. A funky photo booth, which could hold up to six at a time, proved particularly popular with guests.

The volcanic ash cloud meant the couple’s honeymoon to Bali couldn’t go ahead as planned, so a last minute holiday in the UK was speedily arranged. “At the end of the week we found out our honeymoon to Bali could be rescheduled for a couple of weeks later so we ended up having two honeymoons!” says Sarah.

“We had such an amazing day and just did not want it to end!” Sarah reflects. “Enjoy every minute of planning your day as you will miss not having it to do after your wedding.”
