Having known each other as hockey team rivals for years and never spoken, Terri and Kat were finally introduced properly by a mutual friend. The timing, however, couldn’t have been worse as Kat had planned to travel to Australia for a year. Realising that their feelings extended beyond friendship, Kat returned early to surprise Terri and romance quickly blossomed. A Christmas Day engagement followed.
The pair opted for a colour scheme of ivory, chocolate brown and cerise pink – the main flowers being pink and ivory gerbera and germinis – and a monogram of their initials featured on the stationery.
The couple reflect on a particularly memorable moment prior to the ceremony: “We hadn't seen each other's outfits before so it was a totally amazing feeling as our pianist, Sam Warne, played ‘Glitter in the Air’ by Pink, the ballroom doors were pulled back and we saw each other for the first time!”

The couple wrote their own ring vows for the highly personal ceremony. Afterwards, the newlyweds and guests spilled outside into glorious sunshine – perfect for the outdoor barbecue reception. Guests were treated to fillet steak, king prawns, cod steaks, Cajun marinated chicken and vegetable kebabs from the grill. For dessert, heart-shaped meringues with clotted cream, fresh strawberries and strawberry coulis were served.

In the evening, guests grooved to music from live band, SoundAwake, and feasted on a pasty buffet and chocolate fudge cakes. “We decided against traditional speeches during the wedding breakfast. Instead we waited until the evening so that all our guests could share in the stories our respective parents chose to tell!”

Terri and Kat reflect: “The biggest laugh of the night went to Terri's mum Wendy who, despite practising her speech many times and underlining the correct words she wanted to say, still managed to ask guests to toast Mr and Mrs Barbery-Redd!”
The couple enjoyed a mini ‘moon to Kefalonia and are planning an extended five-week trip to Australia next summer.

Their tip for other couples? “Make sure you enjoy every minute and take time out for yourselves every hour or so!”
